It’s all in the Algorithms

Over 20yrs ago Mastersoft co-founder Kewan McDonald realised customer data could be managed better if it replicated processes people use to interpret information. He collaborated with Professor Quinlan, who developed Interactive Dichotomizer 3. ID3 is one of the world’s original decision tree based expert systems and, with its successors C4.5 and C5, remains one of the most widely used machine learning algorithms worldwide.

One of the keys to knowledge-based systems is that they separate knowledge from the computation engine. This allows the knowledge to be managed as a set of rules outside the programs used for data processing, making the rules easier to manipulate and update with changing needs. Using an external set of rules to classify and reliably match data, Kewan developed one of the first ever fully functioning expert systems.

A highly successful suite of data quality products followed. Still used by major enterprise and government organisations, NADIS has proven extremely stable and reliable in processing very large volumes of client data for wide ranging applications. Mastersoft Research then went on to develop the Harmony Data Quality Suite that uses the company's patented IRIS parser. Its world leading inference matching engines can deliver customer data quality in any language, in any country.

Mastersoft know data and now bring their heritage learnings to the fore with customer data solutions that bring a host of other engagement tools into the equation, driven by implementation teams that are knowledgeable, flexible and professional in all they do.
